There was overwhelming consensus when the students were asked: “What single word would capture what you want to convey to people outside?” “Our humanity,” the students all agreed.
The research project seeks to understand and to challenge prevailing public perceptions of who is incarcerated, why and under what circumstances. The focus of the work is the student researchers’ experiences of everyday life behind bars.
